MAKE THIS YOUR TIME TO SHINE

As of lately, a lot of us have been adjusting to the work-from-home lifestyle. For some, this looks like an opportunity to slack or drop the ball. I think you know better.

Don’t fall a sleep at the wheel on this opportunity to shine! Get creative, and resourceful in this strange situation. I’ve put together my tips for making the most of your time, and showing your colleagues what you’re really capable of.

1. Get dressed!

It can be very tempting to stay in your PJ’s when you’re not heading into the office daily. But putting a little extra effort into your appearance

– especially when you don’t have to

– shows you respect your colleagues and team when those video calls come up.

No one wants to see you sitting in bed covered in a blanket!

2. Stay connectedย

Hop on a video chat with your coworkers and think about something other than the stressful situations at hand. Catch up with them, like you would at the coffee pot or the water cooler each morning. Use this opportunity to become a leader in bringing your team together.

3. Manage your time

Don’t use this situation as an excuse to slack. Show your team – and your boss – that you care, and you’re committed to the work.

Practice time batching. calendar blocking, or whatever you need to efficiently manage tasks and get things done. Check out @shine.squad.secrets on Instagram to grab the timers I use!

4. Offer supportย

Make a point to check on those around you and offer support where you can.

Stumble upon a helpful resource like an at-home workout routine or a homeschooling guide for parents? Share it with your team!

You never know who could benefit.

5. Take care of you

ย  You can’t expect to be in the right headspace if you’re going stir-crazy.

Do what you can to take care of you. Take a walk, open a window for some fresh air, set aside time to read a book or work on a passion project.

Take care of yourself so you can continue to put your best foot forward for others!
