GET THE MOST OUT OF READING

๐Ÿ› Where are all my bookworms at?? (My best guess would probably enjoying their time at home snuggled up with a good read ๐Ÿ“š).

Reading is a great habit to pick up in and of itself.ย  When you learn how to take value from a book and apply it to your life, it really becomes a game changer.

๐Ÿ“Taking notes on what you read is SUCHa helpful way for really absorbing that value and taking action on it.

Here are my tips for taking notes and getting the MOST out of the books you read!

1. Start a Commonplace Book๐Ÿ“–

๐Ÿ’๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ I’m obsessed with the Commonplace Book system!

When I read something I want to remember, I jot it down a notecard. ๐Ÿ“’

๐Ÿ“ฆ Then I organize those notecards in a box broken up into different categories.

I have categories for quotes on success, on failure, on conflict, on freedom โ€” anything that is important to me and I want to explore deeper or use in a project later on.

2. Try Evernote๐Ÿ˜

Evernote is a fantastic digital note keeping app! I create a new note for each book I read, and that’s where I store the quotes and passages I love.

๐Ÿ““ The notes are easily expandable, so no need to stress over leaving enough room in your paper notebook.

3. Use the pages!

For some, writing on the pages of a book makes their skin crawl. But believe it or not, most authors view it as a compliment!

๐Ÿ“‹I often take notes in the margins of the book I’m reading so when I read it again in the future, I can look back on exactly how I thought and felt in that moment.

If writing in books gives you the heebie-jeebies, use a sticky note instead!๐Ÿ™€
