A little bit of burnout can happen to all of us it’s bound to happen.

It can happen when you’re starting a new habit, trying to keep up that New Years Resolution that seemed like years ago, or working the job you’ve loved for years, that initial excitement always tends to wear off.

We get tired. We get bored. We get stuck in a rut.

Next time you start to feel burnout coming on you, try out some of these tips I’ve learned over the years!

1. Give yourself a break

Repeat after me: it is OKAY to take a break.

You don’t have to be firing on all cylinders at all times. In fact, that’s a great way to find yourself feeling burnt out and totally overwhelmed. Give yourself a break every once in a while so you can recharge and return better than ever. After all, you deserve it!

2. Master your time!

Managing your time is so important to keep yourself feeling fresh and ready for every task.

Try to batch your tasks: keep all phone calls scheduled in one or two hour blocks, so you stay in the call-taking mode. Get your writing done in one sitting if you can to keep your momentum flowing. Cutting tasks off too early and trying to return to them later lets your drive wear off, slowly but surely.

Do what you can to combat that.

3. Reach out

Chances are high, you’re not the only person in your social circle who has dealt with, or is dealing with the feeling of being in a rut. Reach out to your community when you’re starting to feel a little over it.

The people around you can offer new perspectives, new ideas, and the encouragement you might need to keep powering through!

4. Switch it up

Give something new a try! If you’re bored of your workout routine, start switching it up (here’s a video I made showing you some tips!). If your resolution to eat better is leaving you unsatisfied, research some new recipes.

Making small changes adds up in the long run, and adding some variety to your day is a great way to combat burnout.

5. Remember your “why”

Always come back to your why. Why did you choose the habits, hobbies, or job you were once passionate about? Why do these things matter to you, and how can you get back to that mindset?

Remind yourself why you started, and use that reason as your motivation to keep going after the life you want.
