Peak Plumbing Experiences…

I don’t think you can call replacing a sump pump a plumbing task or even construction?  At this point all the heavy lifting has been done by whoever the contractor was that initially installed this mechanism.

I decided to tackle replacing the sump pump in my home the other day.  Although the previous one was working sometimes it seemed to need a little help.  I would walk over look at it knowing the water table is currently high and tap the PVC pipe. Almost every time it would start up and pump water out.

The Frozen Tundra Unthawed

So as you may know I have a home in Fargo, North Dakota aka #FARGO. Virtually every spring we are in a potential flood zone sine we are located in the heart of the Red River Valley.  Along the banks of the beautiful and more than murky Red River.  For anyone who likes fun facts the Red flows north!

I would like to say last winter since technically it’s spring.  Unfortunately we are just in the middle of a blizzard that’s dropping between 6-12 inches of snow on us as we speak!  So with more moisture amongst us I didn’t want to have to worry about this sump pump so I decided to replace it.  I don’t want to be away from home possibly having a Peak Life experience thinking I should be home shaking my sump pump.

Where to buy supplies

So after assessing the situation I decided that this was a job that I could tackle. So off to Amazon I went to order a replacement sump pump to replace what I currently had.  To this point had never failed me so I went with the same unit.  If you are in a similar situation HERE is the one that I went with so far I do recommend it!

I had a couple hiccups as expected. After an hour I had everything up and running even better than before.  I know that I wasn’t the contractor digging the hole and doing the hard work. Like anything the first time is usually the hardest.  This is one of the few home improvements I’ve done recently and it was by far not the hardest which never happens.  The main concern that you should be aware of is the power.  Make sure that you unplug the power source from the outlet before handling the until.  After that most of the rest of the process is pretty straight forward as long as you can see how the previous one was installed.

More Supplies

Besides gathering the GLUE the PVC, and Check Valve  as well as the SUMP PUMP itself was about as time consuming as replacing the pump itself.  I will make sure to include all details that I can.  If you want to see the step by step process I attached it in the video below feel free to check it out

Not quite a Peak Life Experience this time.  I would still say it’s a win!
