๐Ÿ’ก1. Get your lighting right ๐Ÿšจ

Make sure your space is well-lit, especially if you’re working on a computer for long periods of time.

There is no reason to cause unnecessary strain on your eyes!

Try to find a room with a window so you can pull up the shades, but if this isn’t possible, invest in a good lamp or two to brighten things up.

๐ŸŽฌ 2. Remove distractions ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

Are there toys scattered about the floor?

Is the dog dishes sitting in the corner?

Do what you can to clear the distractions out of your workspace. If your room has a closet, take advantage of it!

Gather the things that take away from your focus and put them away, even if just for the hours you’re working. Dedicate your space to your focus.

๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ3. Face a window ๐Ÿ˜

If you can set up your desk to face a window this is the best option, I highly recommend it.

It’s so refreshing to have a bit of natural light coming in, and this gives you an optimal setup for video conferences.

Try to avoid light coming from behind you during a call can be distracting to your colleagues… and natural light is always the most flattering ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿช‘ 4. Get the right chair ๐Ÿ›‹

Get. The. Right. CHAIR! I can NOT be stressed enough.

Give yourself the opportunity to avoid a lifelong battle of bad posture and back problems, find a chair that’s comfortable and supportive.

๐Ÿ“š 5. Have enough storage ๐Ÿงณ

Give yourself plenty of space to store things you’ll need for work. Don’t try to stuff all the things into a desk and let the rest of the room be left to chaos.

Invest in a shelf or two, or a set of drawers to keep your supplies in place.

Make the space feel like you could truly be productive there, because that’s the end goal here. What do you need in order to get things done?
